vega box

hi everybody, any one know how to adjust the slack out of an original vega box? i thought you loosened the nut and screwed the flatheaded screw in till snug, not working for me. my adj screw head is about flush with the top of locknut. can i pull out whole assembly for inspection, or will somthing fall outa place?
