I read on another forum where a rodder was in an accident and the insurance company isn't paying up. The reason? The car in question doesn't have a matching vin number to the paperwork. This made me think about the guys that circumvent the system by buying a title or using a title company. I went right out and checked the vin numbers on my cars..........I'm safe. :p

I know in this part of woods, if all numbers don't match, good luck!! Hearing all kinds of stories here about kit cars and not being able to get them registered .Getting now that if the frame has been modified it has to be checked sometimes by an engineer,at your expense.

Going thought that right now with my 58 Rambler American.

The car was hit and now because the VIN does not match the title the insurance Co. is not paying me.

Being that the car was already titled in Pa when I bought it I did not think I had to check it. Boy was I wrong.

check out my post "Some people just don't get it" You can read what I have already been through.

That's a good point to verify your VIN/serial numbers to all your vehicles paper work including title, registration, and insurance.
I just got a renewal notice for my 71 Dodge Challenger. Good thing I looked it over before I sent in the payment. Under make it said Honda. What??? So I took all my paperwork, bill of sale, title, old registartion to DMV to get it corrected. They still wanted me to bring the car down for a VIN inspection before they corrected their mistake!

Like any of them there would know the difference!

They wouldn't know a hudson from a honda....LOL If they knew anything they'd know the vin number identifies the vehicle make, model and everything they'd need to know it wasn't a Honda.... Bring it down! What a joke![S

So how does it work with everyone's Model A or T rods? The only number is stamped on the frame, under the body and is probably illegible with rust anyway.

Of course thats assuming you are even using a modified original frame....

Insurance companies spend a lot of money trying to figure out how not to pay claims. Don't give them any easy reasons.

In some States they will issue a State issued VIN after you jump through all their hopes and give them lot o money!
