It's been going on forever. About 45 years ago I was in the loan business. We had a customer who had loans with us for years and always paid well. One day he came in to get some additional money and as I was taking his loan application I asked him what he wanted the money for. He said he was getting married. I then asked him if he was still working at the same job and he said "No, I quit." When I told him I needed to show income he said "The girl I am marrying has 8 kids, do you know how much she makes on Welfare? I don't NEED to work anymore !!!!"

The sad part is, I called my District Manager and told him I couldn't make this loan because the guy had no job and he told me "Make the loan, he has the most secure income there is out there!"

That is how our system works............so why shouldn't they go to Vegas and on other trips you and I can't afford?

When you subsidize poverty and failure, you get more of both. James Dale Davidson

In it's present state and how it's handled...Welfare breeds welfare.

"You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

Why shouldn't they take a vacation? Do you know how hard it is sitting around all day with nothing to do except watch Oprah, Jerry Springer and judge judy? And then at night you have to go out and find crack.....not an easy life my friends.... Give the poor people some slack!!!!

Eventually, you run out of other peoples money to give away.....sad, and makes my blood boil. In my opinion, at this point, the only thing that will stop the madness is an ugly revolt.

You had to get me going. As part of my job as the fire official I had to do property maintenance inspection on all rental units in the borough. The one property was all section 8 housing and it made me sick to see what these people had in there units. Large screen TVs not one but one in the living room and one in there bedroom. and maybe one in the kids room. Video games systems for there kids. Not one but every one that is out there. Ans of all the properties that I inspected they had the best cars in the parking lot. The best clothing and the best furniture in there unit.

Also I help out with the food closes and the toy drive. All I can say is that I will never donate to any charities anymore. The ones that need it can't get there and the ones that know how to work the system get it all.

I had one guy pick up toys for his so called kids. He circle everything on the list and he got it. Ok you say so. But he came in with a mister T's starter kit around his neck and when I help him. Using help loosely I carried everything and he would not even open the door to his vehicle so I could put the stuff in it. Oh his vehicle, a new Cadillac Escalade with 22 inch chrome wheels and a sound system that had to be the best out there. I did not even get a thanks.

As ask me what I think about welfare. You have a couple of hours to spear.

All these stories is why I don't give to charity. I can relate to HOT40RD. The area I patrolled had welfare projects. Granted, some of the people really needed the assistance, but also a lot of them had the BIG screen TV's.

An old girlfriend I use to have is a welfare recepient. 7 kids, all with different fathers, was on the welfare rolls. She eventually had her kids taken away. I told her to get a job, she said she was trying to get SSI, which is only $200 a month. I told her if she didn't get a job soon, she wouldn't get social security. She spends all day looking for loopholes for a lousey $200 instead of getting a job. She also dumpster dives. I don't get it, she works harder not working than working.

The government makes it too easy to sponge...

If you talk to these people they will most likely tell you that this is the way their parents got by...... why work a 7 or 10 dollar an hour job when you can get all you want with nearly no effort?? These people have no self respect or work ethic at all..... in my opinion...... but this is how it's been and this is what they will do until the system changes..... good luck with that too!!! I'd work 2 or 3 jobs to support my family before I'd take a dime I didn't work for.....self respect, dignity, pride.....they don't care about any of it.... the world owes them and they get it.....

I still give to charities,,Veterans, cancer and Old folks homes and when I'm down in the baja we as a family visit the barios and give fruit and school supplies..there are still people who need and appreciate help.

Let me correct one of my statement. I said I do not give to charities anymore it the ones like toys, food banks and anything to do with the possibility of welfare getting it. Yes Veterans, cancer and some others are good and I help out.

There is just one that always brother me and that the one that calls asking for money for Fire Departments. If you want to give to the Fire department make a check out to your department and give it right to them. That way you know it going to the department that services your community. Being my career was a fire fighter I know how that works.

The working class "teeter totter" is soon to be over ballanced and when it does I say we strike and say were are no longer gonna take it.I better get to making some picket signs.LOL

Whether you have a white collar job or blue, if you work for a living and rely on a paycheck to pay your bills, you are not represented in Washinton or in any state capitol.

our "at home" solution to this

person to person, the solution is to be self employed and itemize EVERYTHING YOU CAN so you pay as little income tax as possible. At least they only get as few of your dollars as possible
