What Car is this badge from?

Hi all,

My name is Michael and I live in Christchurch, New Zealand. A few years ago my Grandfather who lives North of Wellington found this badge in his garden on his property. However we have no idea what vehicle it is from.

After years of searching, the only information he has been able to gather about it is that it was seen at a rat rod meeting in America a few years back. So if you have any idea what car it is from please post but I would like proof if possible as it is going to be mounted and given to me.

My vote is Cadillac but I'm not sure of the year... maybe early '40s.

It just has that flair.

I don't know about the emblem either but Its always good to hear from the land of the long white cloud!! I have many Maori friends and yes, Burt Munro will always be the "Man"!!

Dont think this is an American made cars emblem. This style emblem with the V8 off set to the right has been used for many, many years by both BMW and Mercedes.

Heres an example of both:

You might do a little looking at these, but I would for certain look at the Euro cars pretty hard.

It may be from a mid 50's Pontiac. Saw one at a rotissere display in Louisville that had the same emblem on the rear quarter.
