What gas tank could I use for my Dakota from swap. I was looking to reuse the original gas tank from the Dakota but not sure how to wire it up. Plus its a electrical fuel pump and the engine in my truck is a slant 6 with a mechanical pump. Not sure on what to do. My build is a 1953 dodge pickup with a slant 6 on a 89 dodge Dakota frame.

i think that pump will make too much pressure for your carb. i don't know if you can remove the pump and extend the line from it so it is the pickup line and then block off the return line and use the vent line

You can use that pump with a fuel pressure regulator. I'm sure there's a schematic online to show you how to wire it up.

I thought of this but wasn't sure if anyone has done it

I just took my pump out and extended the line to about an inch off the bottom of the tank . you just have to put in an inline filter for it .

OK heres what I'm working on a 1953 dodge pickup with a 1989 dodge Dakota frame and a 78 225 slant. Trying to get it ready for rockabilly on the route up in tucumcari new Mexico. All that's left is the steering column, wiring and shifter linkage.

No I done this to a 1 ton truck all it is . you take the clamp off the rubber hose that hooked to the pump and just add the same length of rubber hose back to it .. just get the length from the hose down to the sock filter or bottom of pump , and thats how long the hose should be.. its not hard at all instead of the pump you will just have about a 6 or 8' rubber hose on it . Well I just seen your pump picture the ford isnt built like this mine has a small pump on it .. but yours may be inclosed to where you cant get to it . IDK . My chevy and the ford are replacable pump .. they didnt look like that one

ff.PNG does this help any ? inside that container is probably were the pump is at . I think this pump is a chevy , but the ford I done was close to it .
