JML that brass plating technique looks killer on your door handles. Maybe I will highlight some parts on my Impala.
 
I would use the 1" or the 3/4" tube for the center bar but then I would use 1/4" for the uprights on the sides. I think what you are going for is the old 20's to 30's elegant grille inserts with the brass. If you go with the larger tubes on the sides then you get more of a cattle crossing grate look. More industrial than elegant. Just my $.02[P

I wasnt really thinking along the elegant line, more a steampunk like theme. That and i just like the contrast of colors :)

I'm not sure about 1/4" bars. At that point i would have to tighten up the layout and i would need 3 times the 60 feet i need now for 3/8" or 1/2" bars.

Im trying to lay the bars out where it looks good but so that the brass is not overpowering.
