I've been around hot rods and bikes since I was able to breathe, pretty much. My dad and my uncles started taking me to the drags and oval tracks when I was not quite two. I've seen flames of every kind, from short and stubby to long and skinny. Realistic, psychedelic, you name it. I've painted flames on hundreds of cars, bikes, refrigerators, even a potato truck. So my question is....what kind of flames do YOU like?

Old style, long and skinny. Multi color, yellow, orange, red, blue. Or ghost flames. Don't care for the "real flame" style a bit.

Classic California flames - Those are long and skinny white to yellow to orange with a blue tip for those of you not up on the terms...[cl

i like all kinds of flame paint jobs, now that said. i like traditional flames on older stuff say 66 and older. tribal and real style flames are better on new stuff. but you all know that some cars and trucks should not have a flame paint job, they just don't look right, even some of the older cars and trucks. i have a 90 chevrolet suburban, needs to be repainted. it is black and silver, needs to be black with a newer style of some kind of flames or scallops, but never the traditional style of flames imo.

You're right, some cars just don't need flames. With all the flames I've painted, I haven't put any on one of my own street vehicles for almost twenty years. :D

there is an old caddy here in town
it has the short skinny all red flames everywhere on the body
the car is a POS and the paintjob is amateur at best.
but goin down the road that thing is sooo cool lookin!
