What's a hot rodder to do?

I mowed my lawn yesterday and my El Cheapo lawn mower ran like crap and used a lot more gas than it used to. I checked the plug and it was all sooty. Checked the air filter and it was all plugged up. What does a hot rodder do? I happened to have a Moroso pleated valve cover breather so I adapted it to the carb inlet. Runs much better now and I may have picked up some much needed power[cl.

And if you put a pull string on the governor rod you can get a whole lot more rpms out of them. Life expectancy is cut dramatically though, but your neighbors will be impressed. When I was a kid I blew up more than one Sears riding mower that way...........thank God they covered them under warranty. [ddd

I have a driveway full of 70s garden tractors right now. I think at least one of them needs "ratted". Probably the Sears 16-6 with the Onan twin so I can run dual pipes.

I tweaked the governor linkage for more RPMs the second time I used it.

I used to be a logger and we did that stuff to our chain saws. Back when it was still legal to cut logs. The open element helps breathing alot!
