I had 4 cars insured through Progressive Ins. Two Ford Escorts an S10 Pickup and the 1930 A RPU. I only have the minimum liability coverage required, no collision or comprehensive, I'll fix it if it gets a dent. Now I got the 40 Studebaker road worthy so I tried to ad it to the policy. You won't believe the hassle I went thru, too many questions that seemed to never end. In fact I was on the phone for 55 minutes tryin to complete the change. Even got a call back because I couldn't do the online signature required for a small discount. Finally got it done but I thought I was dealing with some government bureaucrats.

So who do you deal with and are they easy to work with you concerning your rat rods?

I dont have one insured , but they do have a (hot rod ) policy its like you put a value on your rod and the value of it is what your paying insurance on ,,, not sure how it works though .. years ago ,I tried to put insurance on my 30 chevy to ride it around ,, (Liability) he told me it wouldnt even be of any value . I would have to get a classic car insurance of some kind..

State Farm and no problems insuring the rpu, it actually only adds a few dollars a month. I don't have collision or comp but do have the best liability, roadside assistance and I get my home contents insured. With my 3 cars and my 18 year old daughter's, it runs about $130 a month.

I've had American Family for my cars/trucks since 1980. Took few cheaper quotes over the years. But i feel the service I've gotten is worth the few $$$ I might have saved.

I added my '51 Bel Air for $110 a year. It's titled as a Regular car vs. Antique and I have all the basic coverage. Took all of 5 min. to add to my existing policy. I declared the car worth $10K.

On the Negative Side I won't insure my home with them as the are prejudice against Rottweilers.

Shelter Ins. but, I've been told, by my agent, they quit insuring hot rods/rats because, they couldn't seem to put a value on them
I guess I'll have to go somewhere else with mine :(

Insurance

My son has his 1969 Mach 1 insured with State Farm with a agreed value. Don't know how much he pays but he loves State Farm.

I've had several insured with State Farm over the last 40 years with an agreed value. Only one time did they have an appraiser look at my vehicle. That was 25 years ago on my 37 ford slantback, they appraised it for $15,000 which was more than I thought it was worth.

Mine are through Heacock, which must be underwritten by American Modern.

So far been good for me. Three cars, The 29 Coupe, the 58 TBird and the 68 Convertible Olds, full coverage on all, $318 for the year.

My Vette and my Lincoln are both with Grundy. Have $9000 on the Vette, $15000 on the Lincoln. $364 a year for both. My 99 F150 and wife's 2000 Expedition as well as the 87 E350 motor home are all with State Farm, full on the 2000 and 87, liability only on the 99. I think it's about $1200 a year, but not sure on that.

I have all state but agent is a hot rodder so no issues.
I ran into the same issue when the inspector came out to sign off on the electrical in my new shop building a few years ago. He liked my truck, and assumed that the shop electrical was fine if I did the work.

Gotta' love a brother rodder.

Thanks for this thread. I'm with Allstate. I hope they like my rat. If not, I'll go shopping.

State Farm form, I pay for the newer drivers, 08 Cad.,11 Chev 3500. but the hotrods are easy, a few photo's and about $50. per year, per car, 40k value each (high, but thats where they start for the $50.00)

thinking of switching Ins. co.

Thinking of switching Ins. co. ..got a quote from American National (Anpac chrome) for my 47 Willys rat /87 El Camino & 72 Vega SW .... pretty reasonable
$285.00 per year for full coverage w/roadside assist. I"ve only heard their ads on the radio & don't know anything about them. .... I see Billys is using them
anybody got any more info on them ?[S[S

I used them before, not a bad company. Sounds like a good deal for what you are getting, definately better then teh deal I was getting, but I was much younger then, I noticed teh rates go down the older you get and the less violations you have :D

I'm pretty sure I will be reevaluating all my insurance policy's soon after my recent battles with Allstate over my truck. Might have to check into this Anpac chrome place for my rides.

When you finish a Hot Rod build spend the 3 to 4 hundred bucks to have a good appraisal done on you Hot Rod. here in Calif I have the minimum requirement of coverage. actual Hot Rod coverage is very expensive and I
know guys who had it and got burned by the insurance Co. if my fault then my loss. but if someone causes damage to my car I make it very clear at the time of the accident that if their insurance does not take care of me then I will come after them for it by any means I need to.

Yeah the older ya get .. the slower ya go ... and the more ya notice the cops ! Jesse I don't remember when I got the last ticket .
Anyway I recently renewed the policy on the Elky (J C Taylor ) about $100.00 with agreed Value & thought I'd see what coverage on the Willys would be .. got quote 249.00 per yr. heard a ad for Anpac .... a little more but they throw in another car ... I'm just wondering what happens if I ever do have a need, like I really don't wanna find out the policy is cheap & they're a terrible company to deal with ::rolleyes:( Did a google on them not really much to go on.
