ok i found a rearend for my truck posi traction camaro,, its too wide!! i need at lest 10 inch backspacing,, i have found wheels with a 11 3/4 backspacing, but they are 200.00 a piece!! ouch cant do that! so has anyone done this? i have three sets of wheels two use, thinkin bout building them myself!?[S[;)

I used to do just that on my roundy round cars. I was too much a tight a** to spend the money on wheels when I could make my own. Search wheel widening on google and I believe the company name is weldcraft. Has some good info as well as pictures.
I love pictures cause if I know the material thickness or a bolt size I can scale it out to get an idea as to what the measurements need to be. Works very well!!

I say go for it!! I have been looking at wheels for months now and WOW do they want some bones for those, So I am looking at steel wheels and making my own offsets and widths.

I think it's more about the comfort level you have in cutting things apart and measuring 780 times before welding!!!! LOL

Good luck with what ever you decide!!!!

I have done a bunch of wheels. The only thing is 10 inch backspacing is a lot. How wide of a wheel are we talking about here?

14 in wheel,,, but i think i may have the rearend traded for a s10 rear end, i hate to trade off a posi rearend but , i am broke right now, so trading is the only option,,and running out of time,,, Need to be done by middle of may ,, Ratrod Street Preachin tour, Begins the las week of may, first week of june i need to be in junction texas!

so if the trade doesnt go thru , or the reaerend the guy wants to trade doesnt have the right gear ratio, i need to be able to do this,,,[;)
nothing like pressure! LOL:D

Bolt the wheel on front, so it can spin as you cut.
Cut Off wheel in an angle grinder is fine.

Cut a metal strip the right size, form, weld in place.
