Wiring an AD Pickup

Your a good man Bruce. I hate wiring to the point that I usually get a friend who likes it to do it instead of doing it myself. I don't know why I hate it. It's just a mental thing I have with it.

Not wild about it myself. Just something that needs to be done to be able to drive it. I even have another wiring project to look forward to later , my Plymouth coupe.

Tho it's just a straight shot down 65 to Mobile, I'll have to pass on that offer. I'm surprising myself. This part of the build bothered me worse than any other part. It's really not too bad.



Now for the fun,,,,,cleaned up the lighting/radiator fan wiring & the neutral saferty switch wiring,,,,

Next up,,,wiring the fuseable link for the fuse panel power....

Wiring the brake light switch. Since finding the regular plug is out of the question at all the area parts palces, I used some snap on connectors & a bit of shrink tubing to create my own connector.

Took most of the day off to take care of some real world stuff. {Now the dogs don't get lost when they go out back } Only got a couple of hrs in this evening,,,,

The oil switch, tach wire & coil power get hooked up here.

Last order of business, well OK next to last, cleaning up the wiring under the hood & also the headlight/front signal wiring.

I must have been over excited last nite over finally getting her back on the ground that I forgot the little bit I did on wiring. This is just securing the speedometer wiring & the neutral switch wires.

Bonehead,,,not so easy. A lot of words not fit for this forum were uttered & will be uttered in the wiring of this truck.

Wiring & installing the headlight switch

One of two things I dreaded, the speedometer. Wiring not bad at all just getting this thing mounted was a real b, well y'all get the idea.

Setting up the gauge indicator light wiring for tomorrow. Getting closer to being done with this.

Installed hi beam & turn signal indicators. Also the last big thing, the quad gauge,,,,,

After a little bundling of wires the rats nest is a little neater. Just need to finish tucking these things up out of the way.

Success !!!

Decided as I was etting ready to call it a night to try the lighting. It actually works ! The 3rd pic may be hard to see but the dash lights are on & work properly. Turn signals, 4-ways & indicators work, too. Oh yea, parking lights are a go & starter turns the engine over. Didn't check brake lights as there is no fluid in the system right now.

Wiring's done. Just some very minor things to wrap up.
Final tally on this part of this build:
Hrs dedicated to wiring: 70 (at least !)
Zip ties used : 150+
Cuss words uttered : too many to count

Also, much pain in the **,,,back & legs (getting old sucks !)
Great satisfaction that it all (well most all) worked 1st time.
And lastly,,,,,I'm sure the guys that have done this many times
before will attest to,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
You WILL have wire left over

All-in-all this was actually pretty painless (except as see above)
& pretty fun to boot.
