In CT there was a law that prevented walking through the yards. You tell them what you want and they go get it. The law has recently been lifted but there are only a few that have opened to it. I miss the pick-n-pulls here. Jim

Your lucky. The nearest one to me has some vintage but not much. And most of what is there has been picked over leaving mostly just the body shells.
getting to be fewer and fewer of them...

I knew I wasn't the only one who had pictures of stuff from the wrecking yard. Cool pics

I live next door to one. He thinks everything is made of gold. Very hard to deal with at times. All of it has been there so long it is rotted to nothing.
That's not unusual it seems. kenny.
I been in yards that were very friendly and others, not so much.
My local guys not bad, but as the stuff gets scarcer. His prices get higher.
I do alright with him because as long as his price is fair I don't haggle with him.
If it's not I says thanks and move on.

I spy a 55-57 suburban... thats what I am leaning towards for the next project... wife says it needs to be a family cruiser....

Just need to find me a good starting point, they seem to be very pricey..

He had a lot of nice stuff. His prices were so high, it sat forever and now it's mostly too far gone to do anything with. The other problem is the people that can or want to do anything with this stuff are getting old or have passed on and the market is going away.

The one yard I knew of closed about 3 years ago, but announced that they were going to do so. So they moved a lot of stuff during their closing. Told everyone they were clearing the land to sell.

I drive past there occasionally. they indeed cleared the land and the buildings. Crushed everything that was still out there and stacked them up. Now there is just stacks of cars. And when I go by.. I always think to myself. I bet I can still find something I can use....
