Want to buy a 265 0r 283 chevy eng .looking for a running flat head ford v/8

Any special reason for the earlier SBC engine? Newer ones are better suited to today's gas, and likely have more push. If it is just for a way cool set of staggered bolt valve covers, there adapters.

If I can't get a flat head I would like a early 265 or 283 55 59 time period. Building a a frame at present. It's not about hp. I was a kid back then and that was what was in some of the cars I admired.

Are you looking for a ready to go built motor or one to freshen up? and how far are you willing to travel. I believe I ran across an early sbc in Jacksonville ads yesterday.

i have one i got in a trade. supposed to be a 283. all there i think. yours for $100 ....but i am in N.E. OKLA , 60 mi. north east of Tulsa.

He called me today, and it is a true 55 eng with the oil filter like the f/h ford.
What a good buy. Will be picking it up in a couple of weeks.
