So, we redid a 70 GMC C15 that my father bought new in 71 as a hold over.
Over the years, it's been our shop truck for the auto restoration business. It's one of the reasons I get along so well with JFG455. We're both car nuts with fathers who were car nuts.
Long story short, JFG455 talked me into an LS style motor... I really wanted power AND reliability.
So I did an LQ9 iron block, a Callies Magnum crank, connecting rods and pistons to make it 408ci and added a nice cam, LSA blower heads and JFG455 build headers for it.
Thing is, this is RRR.... this truck is not really a Rat Rod. Why am I posting it here? Well, I wanted a certain look to the truck. Modern, but old school.
So I added a radial mount 3.4L whipple blower to it with a big old dominator throttle body sitting on top. I think it looks decently old school... eventually, I will hide all the wire in copper pipe and move the coils off the valve covers.
So, if you think an LS motor will ruin your look, you can make them different.
Ive done dual carb intakes, 2" cog belt drives, etc.
I know, RRR is not really about looks, but who do you think you're really kidding? Function over form, sure... but we all fall in love with that form first
