I used to be able to play a 5 hour gig and stand the whole time soltz. And my fingers used to be so calloused up that you couldn't get blood out of the tips with a needle.
When I lost the leg my biggest adjustment was getting used to playing sitting on a stool. The main reason that I retired from playing is that my hearing is shot. And last night just reinforced that. A good pair of hearing aids are about $4000 and even if I had that kind of bread to spend they won't fix the fact that all my high range hearing is gone and a lot of my middle range as well.
Everything sounds out of tune to me now as I can only hear bits and pieces. I never had "Perfect Pitch" as some do but after playing for almost 50 years I had a high degree of relative pitch that some took for perfect pitch.
My hearing is so bad that I can't even listen to the radio anymore.
Members of the band want me to come and just be the leader but to me the real fun was in the playing.
For everything that I have lost the ability to do I find something else to do that takes it's place.

Stirred myself from my stupor and went out and finished the fender mounting flange today.
Pics 1-3. Cut out the rusted area that was left on the flange and made up a template. Cut it out and bent the 90. I had to use 16 gauge as that was all that I had that was long enough. Clamped it in the vise between some square stock and then used the BIG hammer to bend it over. This stuff is stout.
Pics 4-5. I had to put a curve into it. Trial fit.
Pics 6-9. Weld. Weld .Weld. Grind. Grind. Grind.......... Fits fairly well. And it now goes all the way to the bottom of the rear of the fender.

Now that the flange has been repaired, and before I trim it up and weld it to the fender I will need to know which stock mounting holes to fill and which ones I can use. As well as where to drill new ones.
I moved the fender forward 3" from it's stock position but left it at about it's stock height.

Do any of the top holes line up Torchie?
Keep beating on it. It's looking tidy. What ever that means.
Some old lady {about 60} called my truck tidy outside the drug store.
 
None of the holes line up POPS. Top or otherwise.
The upper holes are covered by the flange though. But you can still see them from the inside of the box..
I just finished drilling all new mounting holes that lined up with the stock holes in the flange. Tomorrows job..........Fill the old holes.[;) [;) [;)
And yes your truck is tidy.[S :D :cool:

Eyes are not up to par today so no welding. But I did start to mess around with a pattern for the fender skirts. This is just the first mock up. So lets hear it.....

Pics 2-4. Always good to have help when you need it.:cool: As you can see I used a couple different of things to get the curves on the corners.:D

Pics 5-7 Template taped onto Fender. It's hard to get a good shot due to cramped quarters.

Very cold here today but out in the shop anyway.:D
Pulled off the fender to fill the 11 stock mounting holes in the side of the box.
The square ones are the factory holes.
I used the nail trick to fill in the holes.
Weld grind and repeat.[;) [;) [;)
