just started building my dads old dodge truck he's own it for 30 years sat in a barn the last 10. im probly gonna do a 4.5" chop top, 4" channel, suicide doors, not sure with the front suspension yet(the old man wants me to go with i.f.s). i have the stock frame but i also have a 1950 ford truck frame that i can use, gonna run a 318 and and automatic with it probly. will be an opened fender truck.
truck wasnt in bad shape when i got it but i wanted to strip it and see what was underneath, some mud work but no rust really

tell me what yall think

sam fear-haha im only like 5'8 the cab isnt on the ground right now.

flipper- im gonna cut roof in half, i dont really like the look of the post pulled back and makes more work on the doors i think, id rather hammer around the roof.

Motorhead- do you still have the front stainless whats on there looks pretty mint, your build so far looks pretty good i have to find somewhere eles to do the frame i wont fit in my garage :( well at least not the full frame

got a lil bit more done this weekend. cut the roof in half and moved it forward. made a wood buck for the roof to hold it back into place using a scissor while i tack weld it into place which i havent done yet. i thought the back window stock size would look good but i'm gonna raise it up 2-3". also went out and looked at my frame which is about 15min away its a toss up whether or not to use the stock frame or the 50 ford truck frame i also have.

Got some more work done, the wood buck is to hold the roof in place while i weld it if ya havent tried it before you should. Got my suicide hinges the other only $208 with shipping, not as fancy as hagen hinges but for 1/2 the price who the f cares. Was pretty busy with installing a stereo in the girlfriends new car.

Your cab and your fab work both look good. I like your thought out, steady, clean approach to the build. It should come out cool in the end! [P

thanks, im still learning some but alot of it is reading online techs and practice practice practice. i like thinking things out before doing them, pros and cons of my actions. i think its not to bad for a 24 year old

Not bad youngman!!

Some of the best fab I've seen lately has come from guys your age.... great work and the wood buck was a great idea.... wish I had thought of it..

the wood buck i learn from an old timer from around here, its really useful as many of you know when you cut the roof in half it's all floppy. i tack weld it up and grind with it in there, works pretty ell.
the hinges are from airbagit.com, they arent Hagen hinge qualilty but hey it works for my hot rod.
Hagen-hinge arms and pockets are smaller, have dome light switches comes with better instructions and a dvd
pros- to hinges i bought HALF THE PRICE

Some more progress pictures. The hinges were a lot of work to get to line up with the door. i still need to add some strapping inside the door skin to strengthening it up but i need to finish the top of the doors which will help a bunch. im trying to decide if i want to shave the drip rail on it, we did it on a 50 ford truck at work and i cant figure out if i like the look or not.
