Useing a model T front axle........... what are the pros and cons?

Not sure if your kidding or not being all I have seen on here for builds are the real, old coupe/truck styles so wasnt sure if a VW ratrod would count, but I will be sure to do that. Useing a model T front axle........... what are the pros and cons?

Thats what im going to do... Use the king pin spindles and brakes ect. Was just wondering if the model T axle was any good and how different it compares to the A, except for an easier conversion and more easily ready parts.

Useing a model T front axle........... what are the pros and cons?

Hi guys. I ended up picking these two axles up for $50, but it was before the replies came in. Here are a couple pics of what I ended up getting. Im thinking they will be beefy enough since it is going under a vw bug that will have next to no weight in the front except the gas tank. Anyways, let...

Useing a model T front axle........... what are the pros and cons?

I am asking if a Model T front axle would be a good choice for a ratrod project or not. Im not sure of the year they are, but I have a chance to pick one up for $35 or 2 for $50. Im building a vw ratrod so the weight in the front is very minamal. So my question is, would this be a good choice to...

    Tube front axles safe?

I have seen two on a vw that broke and cause serious injury. Seemed to have broke where it curves from the bottom up to the spindle, and expecially stay away from the chrome ones, JUNK im my opinion.

    over lap welding

By this I'm talking about when you chop a roof and go to weld in the piece for the space where the gap is from widening it, does it have to be an exact cut for width or can you make it wider by an inch or two when you weld it to the other roof sections? Hope this makes sense from trying to...

    volksrod progress and pics

thanks timbo, that is the one that I was trying to go by, I also cut the back window down as well instead of laying it down, which I tried to do too, just couldnt keep things together. Guess I will have to use more spot welds to hold things in place.
