I thought a Henway was a pound and a half?? That looks like more than that.

I think you're thinking of one of these . . . :p

al capone would of killed for this car

I have to say this car is truly inspirational. I've been racking my brain I'm deciding which car to go with and there's nothing like a cadillac. I've read every word in this whole thread
and decided what to look for. I'll find my diamond in the rough as you did and have a
piece of historical beauty just hope I don't have to wait till I retire.lol[dr[cl

Thanks ! I was lucky finding this one so near to home and with current valid reggie no less!! When I first saw it in the guys yard 7 years ago, I had the vision for how it could be right away. Seems to me when you're really hunting for a project car, they just aren't there or are too pricey - you just have to be patient and keep you eyes peeled when traveling the back roads - they're still out there.....

Yesterday I got the rest of the chassis parts and a bunch of other assorted parts painted in the back yard. Got them hung in the shed just before it rained - getting kinda crowded in there now....

Time to show the 500 cu. in. Caddylump some love.:)
Scrubbed off some of the crud and popped the top end off. After cleaning up the pistons and decks, things look nice, typical Cadillac, no perceptible ring ridge in the bores - a tribute to their high nickel blocks. Rockers and lifters are all in good shape so it looks like a decent engine.
I'll just do some pocket porting in the valve bowls, new gaskets, oil pump, water pump etc. and it should make a good runner.
A big relief, I got it from a freind and took a leap of faith as to its condition .
On the topside, it will get an Edelbrock manifold and 750 Holley.

Cleaned up the outside of the block and popped in some new frost plugs, Also cleaned up the oil pan and knocked the dents out of the bottom. Disassembled the heads and wire brushed the gaskets and grunge off - valve guides are nice and tight. Some crustys to clean out of the ports, no surprise as this engine has been sitting for about 10 years.

It will be silver to match the tranny and other chassis parts (and 'cause I have some paint left:rolleyes:)

Spent a couple hours with carbide burrs and a drill cleaning up the valve bowl areas, nothing fancy, just smoothing them a bit and trimming the ends of the guide bosses a little. Also lapped the valves

I didn't hear any mention of a camshaft, ZZ. [S

On another note, did you and the Hennway do the show in Summerland?

Though I'm tempted to slap in a gnarly bumpstick for that rumpity-rump hot rod lope, Ill leave this one alone ("don't fix what aint broke"). I've gone that route with a Caddy 472 and you MUST replace the stock rockers and springs. I tried it first with the stock rockers and wiped them and the valves out after less than 500 miles. Solution is to use aftermarket roller rockers and pedestals, so with cam, lifters, springs, rockers and pedestals, there goes $1500.00 bucks  Hmmm...... think I can live with out that mod. With the hi-rise manifold and headers it should pull this car OK.

Hennway hasn't even left it's nest yet this year :( - trying to make some progress on the Caddy. If I start going to shows too soon I'll get all distracted..
