still need to shorten the shackle about a 1/4 but i think this will work, gonna do a little more bracing on the wheel side and clean up all the rough edges....any thoughts????[P

My 1941 Chevy pickup

This truck sets on a 1978 Chevy Caprice cop car chassis with a 350/700R4. I've had this baby up to 90 on the highway. Wahooooo

from what ive been reading the last couple of months. you shackle should be paralelle (sp) with the axle with no load. with load they will be on roughly 45* down. from the pics you posted, i would say when you lower it down your spring eye will hit your shackle mount.

edit: i see the jack under the axle and its off of the stands.

is that correct?

I'm no engineer, but I don't like the looks of that. those shackle mounts have to take the load of the front end bouncing and that looks like it'll tear apart. Personally, I'd get a shorter spring or rework those side plates so they are heavier gauge and not offset/welded.

Here's my buggy spring on my 46 Dodge rat

This one works great on mine. Hope it helps. Rob
