Body Bolted On!!

I got Jr. and a couple of my buddies over and we man handled the body back into place. It weighs a lot more once the bracing and the floor is all welded into place...It's a good thing I have BIG friends LOL....I leveled everything out and bolted it down for the final time and the doors still fit nice....bonus...now it's starting to look like a rod....well got to get back at it...bolt some more things into place and going to have to decide on a gauge layout so I can get the holes cut so I can get all the gauges and switches in so it can be wired up....moving forward[cl

Making the Dash

Thanks for the compliments Guys!!...I have been working on the dash so I can get it finished so it can be wired up...I laid everything out and cut all the holes that I figured I would need...I then took a piece of aluminum and did the same. I then riveted a border around the curve part of the dash lower...mostly for cosmetics...I painted the dash olive and the gauge rings satin black...I took thinner on a rag and wiped some of the olive off to give it a distressed look and then riveted all the rings on and put all the gauges in as well as the other switches and stuff that I had...I am going to give the interior the same treatment to give it a distressed bomber look...hopefully it all turns out and looks cool...I am happy so far.:)....after I looked back to see what lay out I ended up using and I think it was # 4

That looks friggin' awesome!! [cl I really like the distressed look.

What are those things between the two red button looking things and the two bottom most gauges? I cant make it out from the pictures.

Making interior panels and wiring

Well...I have been super busy trying to get this finished enough for a local car show that I haven't had a lot of time to post much but I did take some pics along the way....It will take a few posts to get caught up so here goes...I made a bunch of aluminum panels for the inside that I will paint and distress along the way...I still have all the rear to finish but I got a good start on the front section....I tackled the wiring as well...That in it's self is a big job, but it's done and everything works the way it should

Final Assembly and details

I collected a few parts over the year and now I can put them to use...some of which are a 80mm tank shell for an overflow tank and a 50 cal. machine gun sight in the back window...I used lexan to fill in the top, m16's around the exhaust ports and over the cowl,50 cal. interior door handles and dipsticks, and little trinkits and badges here and there...I also did up the door art as well...B-17 Flying Fordtress...if your going to use a bomber theme...might as well use a bomber.

Rat Rod Draws Huge Crowds!!!

Car show was busy due to bad weather outside and the rat rod drew huge crowds all weekend long and kept cameras busy all day...tons of comments and kept people busy spotting all the details....at the end of the show it was awarded 1st in class for Rat Rod... Yes....so the 700 hrs plus since Oct. paid off!!!....it was fun but it was a lot of hard work as well...I still have things to finish up but at least now I won't be worked to death on it....so that's where I am so far.

Harrumph. Would have won Best of Show if I was the judge. One of the best rat rods with a theme that I have seen. Excellent design and build quality too. It's got it all.

Now, to see if it rides and handles well and is fun to drive, eh?

Congratulations.[cl
