This the first of many pics of my ride . I started this over a year ago for the 2nd time so I hope to stay ahead of my last posted pics. I was going to restore it at one time, but the car was to far gone for the money I make so I gave up for a year . Now I'm planing a custom. I have fixed many cars for other people in my many years of paint & body. I made a 1980 F100 for myself. I drove that thing for 15 years. Maybe I'll drop a pic of it if anyone wouldn't mind. Now my daily driver is a 1995 jeep YJ. Back to the build this is a 51 chevy, it set in the woods for years before I got it. The rolling frame came from 85 buick regal. The motor is a 472 Caddy painted to match the car. I took a week off work to do the frame swap. That was my vacation. I did the swap at my work that's why it is such a big shop. The floor was eat up with rust same as the rockers so why not channel right.

The Regal frame was real close, but was 7 in. short. Here is one picture of it unfinished. I'll post pics of what I did there later. The width was prefect for the wheels and tires to tuck when airbag are added.

Looks kinda familiar. I used a 85 Cutlass frame stretched 17" under my 48 Olds. I ripped out the entire rails and added in new pieces of 2x3. Bagged also.

Keep the pictures coming! [P

more pics

Here are a few more picture from my build. The rocker was shot. So I cut the rust out and welded a 1x2 tube in then a 2x2 angle pointing down. I didn't get a pic of the angle, but you get the ideal. I put a little rake in the channel. My friends say it looks like a turtle. Why not go with it? So I named it Cecil Turtle. From the Buggs Bunny cartoon. I have plans of airbrushing him on my Caddy air cleaner with the rockets a blasting.

caddy

The only problem will be feeding that motor. The carb was 800 cfm stock I changed it to a 750 Edelbrock. The motor is done I plan to post the pic of that this weekend.

motor

Sorry for being a week late on this. Jobs gets in the way of fun sometimes. The motor for my ride is a 472 Caddy. It was in bad shape when I got it. It was rolled around when moved and it even was stolen. I finely got it back and took it to the shop where me and buddy had a close call when the engine hoist broke. What a motor it shook the ground when it landed. Well I took it apart and began the search for new tin or used. That is when E-Bay comes in. The hardest was the oil pan. Sump at the wrong end for the frame I used. When I did find the right one they were going to make you pay. So I had to change a used pan that I bought. I custom painted some used valve covers I got then the block. The color is one of the two greens going on the car. I hope you folks like.

still workin

Well I pulled the frame back out to make the changes needed. As you might remember the frame was out of a 85 Buick Regal. I did this at my shop the old fashion way. Once I got the body off I started at the rear of the frame and worked forward. Here a few pics. The Buick frame was way to long behind the wheels and way out of the shape of my car. So I cut it off and made my own.
