35 grinding wheels
4 grinders
3 pairs welding gloves
2 pairs of pants (because of fires)
1 trip to hospital for stitches

sounds about like a normal project build list:D

I thought I was the only one that caught their pants on fire! Interesting chop.

What are your future plans?

Truck has been on the back burner for 3 months. got side tracked on my 49 ford/datsun bucket (will start a build thread soon on that one. calling it 49 ford f-6 (good thing I don't know what i'm doing or I might mess up)) Been going back and forth on both trucks to work up to my 52 f-1. used the two truck builds to figure out how to do a chopped removable hard top. back to the 51, I have to finish the upper part of the 4 link, get my door done, work out the moline hood and that will finish up the hard fab work. This truck I'm think of going to run with the moline thing I have going on. Going to paint this one the moline harvest gold (just heard eveyone say paint:eek:). I'm thinking about 5 more months.

Door work

Started cutting the driverside door[cl. cut the upper part of the door off. Removed the door skin, had to take 1/4" all the way down the door. line it back up on the cab and went to welding[;) have a pic of a stock door to see how I did my cut.

Passenger side door in the works

Had a good sized hole to fill so I could weld the hinge post back into place. got the upper window frame back on the inner door panel. started to weld the skin back on. For got to adjust for the 1/4" out of the side and tack the skin on twisted the door bad:eek: thank god I only tack it. Will have to do what I do best tommarow and grind the tack off and start over:(

The good news is I didn't trash the door [cl. I ground the tacks off on one side and the the door went back in place:) almost got the welding done and ran out of gas:eek: o'well no sence in rushing things that what got me in the first place.

Thank you

Nice job on the chop. I miss my truck!

Yea that was one nice truck. It got me motivated on my 51. It sat 5 month after I cut the top off a set it in place. I saw your truck and it was game on. I think your truck started a whole new love for the early 50's trucks. hope you get to do it again.

No paint for a while

if people keep painting there rat rods, there gonna ruin our reputation[ddev

Later:cool:

Skull you will be glad to know no truck will be painted (other than primer at welds) during the making of this thread. Now that both doors are on I cant wait another 4 months justs to tear down the truck clean and sand just for paint.

Filled in some of the underside on the back of the cab. I rounded out the bottom to run my pipes out of.
