I have been thinking about this thread a little. I grew up poor, but I never knew it. I had a great time as a kid, and when a neighbor gave me an old bicycle that his son out grew, it was a major deal to me. It was nothing to the guy, cause he was "rich", (lower middle class). I wore that bicycle, (a blue stingray), down to nothing, millions of peddeled kid miles.
Looking back on being poor as a kid, I really don't think I missed anything.

Me? I'm not rich. I live in one small room. There's not even enough space for my belongings because my bed almost uses up most of the space I have. It's okay though. Don't feel sorry for me. I'm happy.

See what I mean

my parents had it all up until i was about 13 and i was a spoiled rotten brat. Then they lost everything; funny thing about it, our lives got better when it happened. Before; everyone was alone playing with their own stuff in a huge house. Then we moved into something quite a bit smaller and were forced to spend time together :D. go figure. Alot of it was them trying to give us (kids) everything they never had, but they were so busy working they never gave us the values they had been given growing up. Somehow i managed to learn stuff on my own over the last ten years or so. My sister....well....we won't go there:mad:.

Where I work, the LA Times did an article saying that per capita income, Rancho Palos Verdes was the riches area in California. There's Palos Verdes Estates where the riches guy is Chinese. He owns Sun Rider International. He did 2 years in Federal prison because he was bringing original artwork into the states, but claiming they were copies. Paid a 2 million dollar fine too. He bought Martha Stewards old mansion and torn it down (Boy, was she ticked). He built a 50K sq ft home. He then bought his neighbors property, torn down the 10K sq ft home so he could expand his. There only him, his wife and 2 kids, besides the live in butlers and maids.

In Rolling Hills, which is a gated horse property, all homes can only be 1 story. This Korean family moved in and bought 3 homes, next to each other. Erected a wooden fence and demolished the homes. Workers were searched for cameras before starting the job. The "Compound" goes 3 stories underground, complete with a movie theater, pool, tennis/basket ball courts and what ever else. The only thing you see, above ground, are 3 small homes. These house security guards.

I made my fortune when I was young, as a stunt double in the adult film industry. I`m drawing a pension from P.U.S.S.W ( Porn Union Sex Stunt Workers ). I just sit around all day, surfin the net and dreaming of hot rods.

Goosei

I used to be really rich from the $$$ trees in my back yard. When I moved the new owners insisted I leave them. ; - <

But now that the dollar is down & gold is up... I'm raising a goose that lays golden eggs... shhhh... don't tell!!!

I'm far, far from rich. But, what I did do was start saving money from the very beginning of my work life. By doing that, I was able to retire at age 55 and spend my time and money building hot rods. I only bring this up to prompt the young people on RRR to put a little away every week so you can have a financially secure later life.
