Everything I own gets rotella. Even when I was building VWs they got rotella. Engines with flat tappetts really like the zinc that is still in the stuff. Last time I had my oil changed at the dealership in my 2010 diesel, they charged me for synthetic but put conventional in it. After that, I decided never again. If I can do it myself I will. Plus, I can change the oil in my truck for 45 bucks whereas the dealer charges 130.
 
Got a call from him and the wagon is ready
He pulled the transmission and transfer case to clean them up and replace all seals with modern double lipped ones as well as kwik sleeves every where.
Did the same thing with the rear axle

I used Lucas 50w synthetic gear oil in the t/c-granny
