Man, the more and more i look at it, the more i think it would look better sectioned.
Then again, im a BIG fan of those old square body's with hardly any window cause they've been chopped so much :D

I have 1 more guy i want an opinion from. I value his opinions quite a bit. That might just be the deal breaker here.

I think the build looks good the way it is. Sectioning is a whole nuther animal, but good luck if you decide to take it on.

Well, unfortunate story today.

I havnt really had the money to do much with the truck lately. Been waiting for the trans to finish setting up the drivetrain. Well i got some new saw blades today, and a few grinder blades too. Which means the truck is getting a haircut!
3" out of the middle. Pictures to follow.

Here are a few. Got it all cut up and just sitting back in place for now. Got the drivers door shectioned as well. Amazing that it took 8 hours to line everything up and cut. No welds except the door tacks yet.

I'm 6'3" and I feel claustrophobic by just looking at those pictures. :D

Nice work! How high is the top of the cab from the ground?

Wow, that thing is taking on a nice 'sinister' look [ddd I like what you've done with the two piece windshield, I've thought about doing a thick post like that in my Willys but yours really fits the truck.........goes nicely with the back glass. Glad to see you making progress[cl[cl

I'm glad you like the split windshield!
That's just cardboard and duct tape in place for now. I put that on to see if I liked it. Wanted it to sit there a few days before I made my final decision.
The longer it's there, the more I like it! I think it'll stay. Especially since the rear window is split from the factory. The windsheild ought to throw anyone who thinks they know what the truck is through a loop ,
:)

This will make an 8 window truck. 1 windshields, 2 roll down windows
, 2 wing windows and 2 rear windows.

The way I see it, I like to share. The passenger will have their own entire share of windows. :)

So since the cab was cut in half and i was tired of the garage floor getting covered in the finest dirt i have ever seen in my life, i thought i would vacuum out all the dirt between the inside and outside walls of the cab.
There was TONS of dirt in there! Literally!

So in the process, i found these keys!
Look rather old. The cool key is the church key.

Then there was a pill lookin thing. My curiosity was peaked so i opened it up.

Found a check in there! Not written out but its old and cool lookin!.

Heres the find:

Well i figured i should start putting the two halves of the truck back together.
I used the 3" pieces i removed as backer for the walls and help back the welds.
My cuts all the way around the cab aren't perfect so this helps.

I plug welded the pieces to the lower section then bent the top of the pieces so the top of the cab would slide back together easier.
I must say, It worked pretty darn good. Plus it got everything almost lined up ready to weld up.

AH CRAP! I dont have any yet........and im 3 states away for a few weeks. I coulds sworn i took some.
Well, heres how i reinforced the insides before sliding the cab back over. This was to help back the welds and help line everything up. Didnt work as well as planned but still kinda did what i was looking for.

The last two are me just putting the fenders on and the steps just to see what they looked like.
I kinda like the look. It looks good i think. Just dont think it would look right with no front fenders.

What do you huys think? Should i add the rear fenders back on? Id have to widen them a bit. I even like the steps too.

Sorry for the fuzzy photos.

P.S. The fenders and steps on are before the section job.

Sorry for the fuzzy photos.

Found em!
I dont have it all welded back together but at least its together enough to see how it looks.

I like it!
I unfolded the door skin and cut the frame down, then refolded the skin back together. This way i have a little less welding and grinding to do.

Sectioning the truck really gave me the proportions i was wanting. I cant get much lower then this. 6" zee in the frame, 7" top chop and 3" section. thats 16" out of the height of the cab, before the suspention drop [cl

When i get back, i think ill do the disk swap up front, then get some bags for the rear and setup the trans. Then ill need the bags up front done, then a steering column. Then maybe i can take it for a spin :)

Of course all the welds need completed and dressed.

Long way from how i got the truck [;)

If I ever get brave enough to section a project, I’m stealing the idea on the door skins! That worked out great. [cl

Really like the work you’re doing, looks awesome. :D
