Man that is a good looking ride but i think you got the rear wheels on backards LOL[cl

THANKS! You know your right about the rear wheels......they fit better that way ...lol.....they have to much of a back set to fit right, besides there rollers to get around while im welding, dont want to mess up a 300 dollar rim and tire.

Cool! I was wondering what ever happened to this build.........thought maybe ya got too close to the edge and fell off or something
Can't wait to see more progress on this one. [P[P[P

Steering box

I had the day off so I decided to tackle a problem that I am having with mounting my steering box. About a year ago I picked up a vega box only to find out that those are primarily used on a cross steering systems. So today I plan to make some sort of bracket that wont look like crap. The mount bosses are on top so I need to come over the top. If anyone has made one I sure would like to see.

Look at some of the better known speed shop catalouqes for some ideas. They all carry some sort of bracket .
Most seem to entail reversing the box as the Vegas are used primarily for cross steer.
Sorry that I couldn't be of more help.

vega box brackets

Thanks Torchie, I wasn't able to find brackets for my vega steering box so I made one. I took almost half the day, but it was still cheaper than buying a corvair box.

Sure glad to see you're getting back on the roadster build. The bracket it is very attractive. How thick is that main spine?

Hey Bob, The metal thickness I used was 3/16, kind of thick but I felt I needed it to be to limit any flex in it. Its basically two pieces 2 in apart with a center strap. I am going to finish it today by adding plat to where it mounts to the frame.
