Just tinkering with little things that need to be finished. The headers are completed and waiting for paint. The body is scheduled to go for paint in a couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to finding out what color it will be. :D

Mounted the gauges and made and mounted some switch panels. Happy with how it all turned out.

As good as it has looked in the white gel coat....pearl white might look good in day light and under the lights.

Thanks Flipper. Actually the question of paint is now out of my hands. The deal with the painter is "whatever is left over in the cabinet from other jobs" so I really don't know what color, or combination of colors, it is going to be. This relieves me of the stress of choosing a color and also makes the paint "free" since the original customer would have paid for it. :D

The paint is being done by the same guy that painted my dragsters. Looking forward to see what he comes up with this time.

that aluminum construction is so beautiful, it's almost a shame to hide it under paint. while not classically polished etc it's "purposeful" functional beauty. what if you left some of it exposed?

it's wonderful however you finish it. great car. i look forward to seeing it driven.

Your painter has done an excellent job for you on your race cars so far. No reason he wouldn't do the same on the roadster.

Went to visit my engine today. Here's a little engine porn for those that like that sort of thing. I just love the look of the T&D shaft rockers.

Made a windscreen for the car today. Not really sure I like it though. Maybe it will grow on me.

The magneto and transformer arrived a couple of days ago so I checked to make sure the mag will clear the body .. looks OK. Made a bracket and mounted the transformer (coil) to the frame. It'll be pretty much out of sight behind the headers. I think it has enough clearance that the heat won't be a problem.

That's looking good but i don't see a windscreen, or is it the small alum. angle in the middle [S

Yes. More of a wind deflector than a windshield. The following is from the IHRA rule book under General Regulations:

"WINDSCREENS: On open bodied cars, or any other class car permitted to enter competition without a windshield, a metal, or other fireproof deflector must be installed. Minimum size on Street Roadster & Altered class cars is 5" X 12". The deflector should be so constructed that it will divert wind, liquids, foreign matter, etc., over the driver's head, be securely mounted, and installed in such a manner that it does not in any way obstruct the driver's frontal view."

Mine is a little oversize at 6" X 14".

If you need a tall skinny jockey when you're tired of climbing into that cage I'm game to learn [ddd

Stab and steer! Three Hail Mary's and a banzai! I'm thinking this thing is gonna be LOTS of fun. :D

On an exciting note, the machine shop has promised the engine for this weekend. I'll believe it when I see it but will post photos as soon as I get it back to the shop.
