I too have gone over to the dark side and brought my 54 R100 home yesterday. I really like the 57, seems to be a one year only front end treatment.

Here is an update on my build. Did not turn a wrench on the truck last summer because of work but the last few weeks I have been able to make some progress. I started it up last weekend and heard a noise/knock. I will adjust the valves and if that does not make it better than out it will come and the 350 Olds crate motor I picked up will slide right in.
I wire brushed and painted the frame

I replaced the dented up center section below the grille

This is going to be my gauge cluster. It is from a '58 Edsel.

?Wondered what happened to this one? Glad to see you getting back to it. My first vehicle(s) was a pair of '60 IH pickups I bought from my uncle when I was 13 years old. One stepside and one fleetside. The fleetside I worked on and drove around on back roads, the stepside was my favorite but I never got it drivable before selling them.
That Edsel gauge cluster is gonna be cool, always liked the speedo in those.

I met a guy the other night who is going to build a whole new dash for me and the cluster will sit right in the middle so you can see it while walking up to the truck. I have also gotten rid of the bucket seats In a trade for a bench seat out of a mid 70's chevy truck. I have decided on a flat gray with flat black flames outlined in red. I will keep you all updated.

I need some opinions from you guys. I have a friend who bought a 350 Olds crate motor(Short Block) and he said I could have it for a couple hundred bucks. He really likes my truck and wants to see it on the road. The main objective for me is to take the 750 mile trip to the Woodward DreamCruise when the truck is roadworthy. That being said, would you yank the old Pontiac 400 and put in a new 350 Olds knowing what the goal is, or would you rebuild the Poncho?

Their both cool. But the Olds runs and I'm really biased toward Oldsmobiles. Run the Olds tell you can get the Poncho rebuilt

For what it would cost to rebuild the poncho, you could complete the olds, with some go fast goodies.
