Yeah, right. I've been watching you ZZ. You just poured all your leftover paint into one can and the color is whatever the combination makes.

Let's see...I've got some black....a little black....some code black....and looky here....some blue-black!

Blue-Black: The kinda Black that's SO BLACK, it's blue.

Errr, uuhhh, well.., I do have some various black leftovers around the garage . Seriously, I have some fresh paint for this one (not saying when I get near the end some stray paint won't accidentally get tipped in... ).

With the long, low 30's gangster look this car just oozes, I can't imagine it in anything but shiny black..

Can't wait to see it with some color on it..

After the fact, I'll throw my $.02 in. A deep Evergreen - so dark it looks black unless you're right next to it on a sunny day. It's a Caddy not a Chevy, give it some class. Even a two tone with a real dark body color and black fenders -that would ooze class and still look badass. Extremely dark blue or maroon would look sharp too.

I was agreeing with your choice in my own goofy way. If you like black as much as I do, you have a "few" remnants in stock.

I gathered up all my courage today and dove into spraying the black. I find it takes a lot of mental preparation when painting, but I never really know what will happen.... (the weird effect on the door in the foreground is a reflection of the plastic wall...)
It turned out not too bad if you don't count the runs, dirt specks and orange peel - typical for my primitive setup.
I've got a yard project to do so I'll leave it alone for a couple days to harden up, then I'll color sand and buff it before putting it on the frame.

What? No drops of sweat? I haven't painted anything for a few years, but I always manage to sweat on the paint at least once.

I'm curious now, what kind of paint did you use? Can you still buy solvent based material?

Amazingly, no sweat drops !! I usually get a couple on the roof - I guess 'cause it is only just now getting warm here, we've just gone through the wettest June on record.

I used PPG's Omni line of primers and paint, it's still solvent based and supposedly "compliant" with lower VOC's. I think the writing is on the wall with paints as they will all be moving to water based eventually..

Looks nice ZZ. I see the little heater in the "paint room".

Sooooo that is where all of the rain has went this season! We have had the driest May/june/& so far july most likely on record here in Indiana. More 100 degree days in my lifetime. We have already past a critical point in our crops this year, they are hurt real bad. Yields keep slipping everyday. One more week with no rain & the corn will be a gone.

How long to put'er back together? Look forward to seeing it!

Rolled the body outside for a look - other than some orange peel and runs, it 'aint half bad for an amateur.
Here's a couple before pics for yer amusement. It's been a long road to this point, body should go on in about a week. Then wiring, get glass made, some woodwork and trim pieces to make, then it's off to the upholstery shop.

I'm soooo tired of sanding and buffing, there's a couple spots that may need more work but I've run out of patience for now....
Started putting the body back on the frame, though I ran out of time - Ill get 'er done tomorrow.
Scratched my head for a bit to come up with a way to get it on the frame without screwing it up - can't use the skyhook, it'll mess up the paint. Jacked it up on a couple landscape ties and jackstands - kinda sketchy and wobbly but I got it under and lowered onto some blocks on the frame - almost there!!
