It's done with glass bead, not so aggressive as sand, and less chance of warpage. My guy did a car for the Rust Bros, but the producer said he was too expensive so they found a cheaper alternative. I believe you get what you pay for....
This body was soda blasted many years ago but had been kept in a drippy shed on the coast until it came to me so the primer it had on it was almost lost to the elements..

Thanks zz. I'm sure your guy knows what he's doing and he's priced accordingly.

Here in the bread basket, I doubt we have any such specialist. A good friend once said (in total frustration), "If it's not farm equipment, you can't buy it in this town." :p

Kind of the same around here Crank but it’s oil field equipment. The guy that does my snow plowing works for a company that does lots of things like sand blasting. They might be good for a frame but I would never let them do a body.
. That’s some serious dents there. dutch.🙀

So I decided to go with the parts from Bob Drake for a 41-46 Ford for the wipers

The Ford kit is 3 1/2" narrower tyhan the Packard so I had to widen the transmission mount bar and the link arms, also flip the motor mounting to tuck it up under the dash out of the way of electrical, etc.

Had to shorten the wiper arms 2 1/2" to work with the window size, shorter that the Ford, plus it has been chopped. Drilling the holes in the cowl was the easy part...

Naturally, no gain comes without pain... :( the wiper transmissions end up right in the way of the defroster ducts from Vintage air that I had fitted with studs welded to the dash underside - I'll need to make all new ones to
fit tight to the dash to bring the hose connections away from the wiper linkage.... Oh Boy, more fab work

Came up with this header tube to direct air to the defrost vents in the dash, grafted on part of the Vintage Air ducts with screws and some JB Weld.

Mounted under the dash, the wiper linkage just clears at both ends.

After media blasting, what I thought was just one or two holes in the headlights turned out to be some serious cancer :eek:

Couple hours of welding and grinding later, no more holes..

Finally got a couple juicy coats of Epoxy primer on the body and some other parts. By juicy, I mean I got a ton of runs :mad:, .... seems like every time I haven't painted for a while, I have to learn all over again - CRS I think...( can't remember squat)
Oh well, lots of sanding to do anyways....:rolleyes:

While it's all set up for painting, I got busy with some black Tremclad (Rustoleum) and shot the underside, inside and a bunch of parts. Had more fun getting it to spray right, the paint was soooo thick, like old honey, needed extra Actetone to get it to flow and it still clogged the gun. Finally realized the little plastic strainer in the gun was clogging, took it out and it worked better.
