Hello Everyone,
I am thinking about finaly getting started on my 38 Ford P/U. I don't need it to be all original or anything, I just want it to be a conforitable ride in the end. I am going to be using a modern drive train with a small block more than likely. I currently drive a 57 International truck that is all original and I want something more comforable. I have a 1940 parts truck for the frame (x member pretty rusty) if I decide to use it. I am looking for any tips or ideas. Please just throw them out. I need to build the frame and do the suspension set up. Never built one from the ground up before so I am looking for anything! Thanks!

One thing to remember on those old fords. The ID (VIN) number is on the frame. There is none on the body. So depending on your state that can become an issue. Here in Pa you can go for a lost vin

I wish I had the original frame, but it is long gone. It came on a rolling 48 ford frame that doesn't even come close to fitting. I had gotten that 40 ford hoping to use that frame, but time has not been the kindest to it. I considered just buying a prebuilt frame but those are like $9000.00 bucks and that is not going to happen anytime soon. I am jsut hunting for someone else who had done something similar to what I want. Thanks for the tip on the vin, I had not even thought about that yet.

Do you have pictures of the 40 frame. They do make repair pieces and new X members. And if you have the title to that frame I would use it.
