I built my motor mounts from scratch in stead of using tri 5.
I know this is just a mock up but have to ask, are you goin ta put large flat washers on top of the upper rubber isolator ? Also tighten them down pretty far cause if not the ole tri 5 engines would rock back and fourth a lot with just front mounts and no bell housing mounts :)
 
Tri 5 bellhousings where built with tabs for a mid frame mount originally. I have one if any body needs it.
What are your plans for the original engine?

Very nice frame and the color is great. I also was under the impression that if front mounts were used along with a tailshaft mount that the bellhousing would be put under excessively high stresses. In the 70's I built a 55' with the exact same mounts and drove the car for a long time. My engine was stock and I never really romped on it. I never had any trouble but with any horsepower I kind of wonder if this mount configuration would work? The overall build looks like it will be great and your craftsmanship is superb. Steve
 
Only thing that concerns me about that set up..

is the span between the front mounts and the tailshaft mount....not sure unless there is a crap ton of hp that it would cause any issues with the bellhousing...more concerned about breaking the mounts....that's a ton of twist on the tailshaft mount.....I'd say it is "the weakest link" ....maybe use poly bushings to beef it a tad??? JMHO...

You were asking about the original motor. I got it running and it runs great has good compression and am willing to part from it along with the trans drive shaft and rear end.
 
Arms look good! I couldn't find a mention of what front clip that is?

Something I screwed up on mine is the tail shaft. I set it about 3/4-1" out, but aired out not up - so when it lifts, it actually pushes in and almost hits the trans at full lock up. My motor sits very low though.

I have been working on the assembly on the 1980 Camaro Sub Frame. Everything has been coming together well with no clearance issues.

The trunk will be cut to fit the step notch and also the body sets 1 1/2 inch lower to the ground so the body will be about 1/2 an inch from the floor.
