I finally got around to finishing the rear bumper over the last couple of days. I tried to keep it as tight to the truck as I could, while still keeping the plate in the stock location. I was trying to use front brackets, so I had to modify them a bit too. Wow, are those things ever hard! I tried soften the ends of two of them, just enough to allow me to drill two 1/2" holes. I took to to a soft red for several minutes, then gradually backed off on the heat for several more, then wrapped them in a fire blanket for about an hour. Lol....I still couldn't even dimple them with a drill. Burned the two holes and mounted them up. (That's what they make flatwashers for, right?) A little fog of white paint and I'm calling it done.

Front rear number looks good, Bill.😎😎
The old steel is really hard plus I think those bumper brackets were made out of spring steel at that.
Every time I cut into the body on the Dodge I’m amazed at how hard it is.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. My wheels arrived just before Christmas, and I had the rubber mounted today. I haven't stuck the moon caps on yet since I figured the wheels will likely have to come off again. I'm very happy with the look and the ride height.

Thanks everyone, like I said I'm happy with the look. I'm back trying to make progress on the 51 now, but at least I can look over at my truck and it makes me smile.
Yeah ZZ, Detroit Steel Wheels. Dtown. 18x8 in the front, 20x9 in the rear. 4.5" backspace front and back.

Thanks everyone. I can't wait to get this thing out for a drive! I've been knocking off little things on the 51 Chev, but nearing a standstill on it, and then took in the Swinger clone. Here's a little progress on the Thriftmaster. I picked up the seat from the upholsterers' the other day, so I need to get on the carpet, underpad and floor insulation now. I had to put a little patch on the one front corner of the hood, and put some Tremclad on the underside while it was upside down. I stuck the new emblems on it too. I love the chrome against the patina, it's such a conflict! :)
