That has potential for sure! Pretty cool to find one of those beds that still looks like a bed too! Love the Smokey Bear bumper sticker. [cl

As for ideas..........I'd chop it! But that's just me

Keep us posted whatever you do.

1953, cool

l sub-framed mine, love the way it handles and rides.

stick in a V-8 for power, newer rear-end to handle the power and update the wiring to 12 Volt and drive the heck outta it.

please keep the pics coming[P

depending on the state you're in, if you have the bill of sale most states will do an inspection and issue a tilte.

making a 4 X 4 is a cool idea.

53 dodge build

this is the s10 im going to put it on .not sure what the guy before me was doing with it. i got it for the plow to put on my s10 .runs good has a 4.3 4x4 works good and so does trans .thinking a 3 inch body lift 33 inch tires. pics wont post try later

49 pilotehouse

i just gave a 49 five window to a buddie . i zed the frame in rear 12 1/2 inches .still drive able next were gonna z the frame at the fire wall. in the rear i steped it straight up so the wheels and frame did not move back. im gonna do the front at a 45' so as it goes down the front will go out the same distance. he does not want to run any fenders or running boards. he wants to use hood and build a custom grill(nose).

1953 dodge build question

have a chance to pick up a 1990 long bed s10 two wheel drive will this work for my 1953 dodge short box . truck is junk my boss has it just looking for drive train has a 4.3 in it but dont run with auto trans. im going to take it any ways . any ideas thanks

sure

if you have good fabrication skills and trust your'e welding, ya could make the 2WD frame work on the dodge if ya wanted lower type rat than the 4WHD rat.

may have to make some modifications to the floor pan and firewall to get the cab & bed on the S1O chassis.

1953 dodge build

ya thats what i was thinking. i can get the s10 truck for 200.00. like to have it low . i already have two 4x4 trucks . i have a 1992 s10 i put the plow on that i took off the blazer. so i can use all the 4x4 parts off that if needed .on my little camo truck . and have my 1977 ford mud truck. going to be starting the 53 build soon will post pics thanks

Search the HAMB for the s10 frame swap thread. Easy to shorten the s10 frame to the length you want. Kits are available for lowering. I plan on putting '46 or older Chevy sheet metal on mine when i can get it.

GET A TITLE NOW before you chop it all up! It will save you TONS down the road!
I made the mistake of frame swapping, chopping and messing up the whole truck, when I could have gotten a reissued clean title.
If the state patrol needs to inspect it, you want them to inspect it with all origonal stuff, just tell them your going to restor it.
Seriously!

P.S. I say go two wheel drive. Less driveline angle and such to do. You already have a couple sweet mudders, make a summer cruiser.
And find a way to keep that bumper sticker (even if you have to cut the bumper around it) then put some flame throwers in the exhaust :)

Being from Colorado, I shouldn't find that irony funny, but I do :)
