Finally got some real progress to report. I have the right rear fender all welded up, ground, plannished and patinaed.

And even more. :D I have given a thought a lot to seats and building my own! The bomber seats I built for the Essex were comfortable for an hour or so then they weren't. We plan on spending a lot of time in this car so I decided to let GM build my seats. The only problem is finding seats narrow enough to fit the body. I found a 2009 Pontiac G5 at the local impound yard that had seats with a 19"wide seat cushion but the slider frames were 22"wide. 19"is the max width They can be. After three days of modification the sliders are narrowed 3" and the seats fit very well.

And even more. While I was taking the seats out of the G5 I realized it had an electric sun roof. I have no idea how come the glass was not broke as the the car had been rolled and slid on its roof for some distance. There is a little curve in the glass but after measuring it it can be installed in the roof of the 28 pretty easy. I was able to cut out the sun roof, with a good amount of the G5 roof to allow for mounting.
The best part is I got the two buckets and sunroof for $100.

Too much procrastinating and not enough building going on here.
I did get the floor mods completed for the seats. Part of my problem was welding, after reading Torchie's post about welding issues I took a look at my helmet and found all the lenses were scratched and filthy, so after replacing all them and a new 2.0 diopter lens I can weld again.

Feels good to be getting some progress on the car. Bout time.

Consul, I used a piece of 11/4"conduit to bend the radius on the top corners of the metal. It's really tight between the seats 2.5"outside on the consul. It then widens out to 5.5" just in front of the seats and 6.5" at the front end.

I had this B&M shifter in stock and it fits pretty well. I will add a small panel from just in front of the shifter up to the dash at angle closing the sides in as well. In the panel I plan on mounting the two gauges for the air ride.

attachment.php

Bulkhead installed just ahead of the shifter, I plan on two more bulkheads behind the shifter to hold the proper shape.
