I've mounted several racks to the axle and the most amount of "telescoping" I see in the steering column/shaft is 3/8".

I've "steered" away from frame mounting the rack, but would try it based on your experience, OI.

Excellent. So your shop wasn't damaged in the storm?

Very little, it damaged the Northeast corner a little but nothing too bad.
It's an all steel commercial building may be why.

Ya, it's only got about 5000 miles on the engine.

I'm very happy with the one installed on mine it steers and tracks flawlessly

Here's the crew I run with, they showed up at my place yesterday around noon.
We pulled out the Blackstone, cooked burgers on it and the Bayou Classic deep fryer to cook the onion rings and tater tots
They all stayed until after 10 pm
