I think this idea is awesome!

My build is very different from yours, but has a lot of similiarities. Check what I have going on and see what my trans tunnel looks like. I got mine only a few inches off the ground and some serious bobber action out in the back. I'm running a 33" tall rear tire, so maybe you can get some ideas at least.

Use your wheel centers in 22" steel rims to use the low profile tires. Your wheels will need to be machined down to fit inside the car rim. Contact a custom wheel maker to have him change them over. That will drop your rear end and give you more floor room. On my 46 p/u I dropped the engine and trans down so I did not have to build a tunnel.
