Slow and steady POPS and it will get done.
Judging by your patch job on the filler hole you will be fine with the body work aspect. Get the metal as close as you can and use as little filler as possible. Then block sand the snot out of it.:D
And use the best filer you can afford as it will save you sandpaper money in the long run.
I am going to end up skim coating my entire roof as there was a fair amount of pre chop damage. Looked a lot like hail dings. I have worked them out as best as I can and now it's time to go to the next step. Never intended for it to be metal finished. Just solid and the best I can do.
Torchie.

I'm just kinda out of my element but I ain't scared.
If it looks too bad in the end I know a guy that can bail me out.

Thanks for the encouraging comments.

I guess I'll get off my lazy butt and go plug some holes.

I managed to get the small holes done and some of the seams welded up
on the cowl before my A-D-D kicked in. Tomorrow's a new day.

Fillin holes in a firewall is like tryin to kill Locust trees. Cut one down and 4 more pop up.
Looks like you have 25 less than you started with.

Ever wonder why none of the holes will work for the applications you have going? I think my 83 year old firewall had less holes when I started. I've put 9 in mine and only filled one so far...huh?/? ;<}~~~

I just can't figure out what 2/3 of the holes would be for.
Then I think about why I find it necessary to weld them all up
when I could screw a piece of diamond plate aluminum or stainless
over them and be done.

Some where in the distant future some guy will be on a forum complaining about the old guy that put all the holes in the truck firewall he is working on.
Well done smallfoot.[cl :D

Keep at it POPS. Good practice for welding in patches.[;) [;) [;)
Torchie.

"I could screw a piece of diamond plate aluminum or stainless

I've thought the same thing before
Then, I come to my senses and realize, that's exactly how it would look.
Just like someone screwed a piece of tread plate or stainless on it :(
When are you going to figure it out, you're not building this truck for yourself, you're building it for us [ddd [P [P [P

I guess you're right there Old Iron, It would look like crap.
All this time and I didn't realize who I was building this for! HAHa!
I think "Us" needs to get their stuff together and send some dang money
so WE can finish this thing.

Torchie.

I'm tired of practicing.
Went out this morning early and zipped out the patches for the larger holes
and tacked them in place. Then I had to take a break and go to a football
game with my bride. They hammered the other team 54 to 0.

Still got lots of practicing to do.

Looking better all the time POPS.[cl
What did you use to cut out those pieces?
Torchie.

Thanks Torchie. Still plugging away at it.
I have a Plasmacam CNC plasma cutting table to keep me entertained. It's a fantastic piece of equipment that will cut up to 5/8" plate with the torch I have on it now.
