Pics from last night and a couple nights ago

Probably not heading out tonight, even though I should... not feeling that great.

Anyhow, pics of progress... Little bit of everything... hand forming the bottom of the door patch panels (these doors are crap, but its all I got )

Spacer for the brake pedal pivot, and finished the trans shifter cable bracket. All the black stuff is now painted up a bit..

Sorry I couldn't help you out on the doors DR. Went by them today and it will be May before the snow is off of them.
You will do fine on the door bottoms. That kind of stuff builds character.[;):D[;)
Everthing is looking good..
Going under the knife tomorrow so when I get back on here I expect to see that door bottom done.:D:D
Torchie.

No problem Torchie! I can fab it, just takes a little more time ;)

I'll do what I can, but I probably won't do much on it this weekend, it's family time. I'll be back at it monday night I imagine.

Good luck on the knife play!

Door progress..

I'm hoping to have these done and hung by the end of the weekend...

These doors are utter crap, but its what I have to work with...
More hand formed panels, flanged edges etc.

Out of shielding gas... more soon..

I feel your pain on the doors. I still have lots to do to mine.
Hang in there and stay hooked up and you'll get them done.
Then you can tell me how its all done.

Thanks guys, I got a lot of one door done yesterday, but I couldnt get it hammered out in the middle of the door, so I started looking at adding some braces inside the door on the 2nd door I have to do, and I may do that with the first door and cut some of the tack welds out and start again on the middle area...

I dunno, I thought I was going nice and slow, moving around, and even cooling the welds at times with water, and then smacking them flat, but the door skin when it is cut tried like hell to curve more, just like the roof did, which is rather annoying that the steel is so stressed from their forming process, and it tries to curve more...

I mean its not terrible, but there is a dip in the middle that I am not ok with...

Some times I think it doesn't matter how slow you weld.....
This stuff is like cutting a basketball in half and expecting it to maintain it's shape.[S
Carry on.
Torchie.

I completely agree... I have some ideas in my head now should I ever get the crazy idea to do another bubble cab...

I did make my inner door structural pieces today, tomorrow I'm going to see about welding some of them in the driver's door and cutting some of the tack welds to get this door to a more respectable shape in the middle.

Was just no gas left in the tank tonight to get out there and work on it, and I imagine its a good thing for me to take a night off once in a while... :D

Agreed DR. I would do mine differently as well. It's not that I'm not happy with it. Just some better ideas.
A brake from any project now and then is a good thing. At least that is what I keep telling my self......
Torchie.

Never-ending door work

Well I'm just about done with the driver's door, got it hung and mostly adjusted...
still need a door handle and a safety, but its functional.... got a few more welds and clean up here and there, but for the most part its as good as its going to get... its just a rat!

I do have a couple braces on the inside of the door that I have to sort out what to do for permanent braces to strengthen the door at the weld seam...

I'm going to work on the passenger door tomorrow, and it was nice to get a chance to meet Snakefarm and his wife today on their trip to buy a car, they were about 5-10 minutes from my house so they stopped by, what a nice couple!

Door looks great.
When you get the other one done you can
come and work on mine if you want.

[cl[cl[cl[cl Not a chance! When the fab work is done on this cab my welder is going to collect dust for a while.

I got the other door skin fitted and welded in... I'm hoping tomorrow to get the rest of the patches done and maybe mount the door... These doors were so bad, I guess anything I fix is an improvement... they will take some filler, but it is what it is...
