Passenger door is mostly done, couple more patches to do, and welding cleanup / hammer dollie work..... hopefully tomorrow it will be far enough along to mount...

.......... it was nice to get a chance to meet Snakefarm and his wife today on their trip to buy a car, they were about 5-10 minutes from my house so they stopped by, what a nice couple!

Thanks DR, we enjoyed the visit with you and your Dad. The truck is looking awesome and that chassis is a work of art man! It felt good to be in a garage where there was something going on for a change, with building my daughters house I haven't touched the Willys in over a year........so the sound of the grinder and the smell of hot metal made me a little jealous  :p

.......Always nice to put a face to a name.
Torchie.

Here's a couple faces for you all........I'm the short one :)

Finished up patching the passenger door, and got it hung, still need to fit it and clear some areas to make the doors close. That is a job for tomorrow night...

Got the passenger door finished up, however there are some odd differences in the doors from passenger to driver's doors from the factory that made one area of fitment a little interesting. The doors open and close and latch, but my drip rail areas need some serious attention at some point... Just can't do it right now...

Sounds like the fit on your F1 cab wasn't very good from the factory

You are doing a super job on your wicked machine. Nice to put a face to the name too.

Hey, guys, are you sure that personal picture wasn't Photoshopped, because those two guys in there don't look like what I had in my head, at all.[ddd

Thank you for putting faces to the pennames.

can't wait to see this up close. Only about a month and a half to go!

Yes yes, don;t remind me, I'm already stressed a bit about that date...
I'll pull it off, but its going to be tight and not 100% complete by any stretch of the imagination... :D

Tonight I didn't have much go, but I did patch part of the rear quarter panel since I needed a break from the door work. I also started looking at the rear panel that the decklid latches on (not sure what this panel is called). I got one with the body that was cut off a much more solid car, so I need to section that and get it welded in, but I need to put the body on some saw horses.

I need to get the cab marked off in the areas that need clearance for the engine bay, and get the cab off and on to a dolly or horses to finish all the welding and patching, and new clearance areas.

I'm going to be bouncing around a lot in the next week so I don't get burnt out working on one area for too long, I've been working every day for almost 2 weeks on the rat, so tomorrow is an off day, and some family time this weekend will give me a break too...

Don't even think about being burnt out. We all want to see this thing on the road. Not to mention that's when the fun starts when you get to drive the snot out of it.

Hang in there.

It does get monotonous, working on one area so long.
Dr, I started bouncing around on mine just because of that reason. It put the spark back in my want to and that's what you may need too :( ;) [P

That's the beauty of having to do so many things on a project. There's always something else to work on.[ddd
Stay strong little brother. :):)
Torchie.

progress

sometimes it's like eating an elephant, slow.[;)

hang in, my 30ISH dodge sedan has taken 5 years and l can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel[cl---but with my luck it's probably a oncoming train.

Later:cool:

Spent some time ordering the header pieces I need, and a couple universal bends from speedway, and a couple O2 sensor bungs to weld into the header collectors...

Going to look at the power steering lines/fittings this week too.

Picked up more welding wire, light bulbs for the garage and trouble light, cut off wheels and flapper wheels so I can work without running out of supplies...

Hopefully I don't need anything else major besides the glass to get me driving a bit.

Sounds like some pretty standard stuff, when getting close to a startup

Sounds like you gotta good plan there DR. I'm going to get mine drivable for our local show on April 26, but it will by no means be finished then. Still have a complete fuel system to finish as well as the new wiring harness. I'm just going to have the engine wired up right now, and I'm going to wire up the brake lights so I won't get ran over. It's only 3 miles over there and 3 back, so nothing has to be perfect yet. After that, I can dig in and do all the other things I want to do with out pressure.

Keep on plugging away when you get time, you'll get there sooner than you think! [cl

Progress from the past week, and tonight

Well, I worked on the trunk latch panel sectioning it, and fitting it to the body.
I've got the driver's side where I want it, but the passenger side I need to move a bit to get both sides even.

Worked on mounting the ECM on the firewall so that I can start working on some wiring as well. Painted up the frame a bit where the steering box mounts...

Quick pic of the patch panel I started on the quarter panel, I need to do the rocker areas yet, but I need the body mounted for some measurements...
