The owner is bringing the running board brackets over tomorrow so, I'll be putting them on.

I installed the running boards today
I cut the original brackets off.
On the middle two, I cut 3" and welded them to the frame [;)
On the two front, I found using the two rear brackets let area that mates to the frame would fit better. They came further up on the side.
The first pic is the middle. I ended up cutting another 1/2" off from where this mark is.

This is the driver side front I was referring to, about using the rear bracket. You can see how much better it fits.

The passenger front had to be cut on a compound angle to fit the bulge in the S10 frame. This was the initial fit, I had to cut it again for a better fit. I ended up cutting 5" off the rear brackets so they would fit the front.

Little more done

Got to work on the truck for a few hours

Installed the new tilt steering column and a mock up wheel. then hooked it to the steering box

Installed a brake and clutch pedal out of a 73 Chevy pickup

Installed a new 7" dual diaphragm booster and Corvette style master with proportioning valve.
I will plumb the brakes first of next week.

Not sure whats your engine plans are but I used S10-V8 mounts and reversed them,let the motor set back in the frame without any fabbing but does block mechanical fuel pump.

Thx for th tip
The owner is gonna use a mechanical pump so I'll have to do some fab work.

I extended the crossmember rearward and bolted the stock mounts to the extension and carved out a pocket for the fuel pump. It was kind of a pain to do, but I can go to Autozone and buy parts.
 
After I got back from the bike rally, I pulled Jack's pickup in the shop and started puttin the engine and tranny in [;)

I used the S10 cross member in it's original location and cut the mounting bracket off the front to relocate it to the rear of the cross member.

This pic is fussy but, I have 1/2" clearance between the exhaust manifold and the steering shaft.

I made the motor mounts on the brake so they are one piece and welded them to the frame.
The passenger mount contact point looks small in the pic but, it's sitting in a pocket and is welded top to bottom.

I promise I've been workin on this rig.
I modified the radiator.
Hooked up the power steering hoses.
Mounted the battery under the passenger side, front corner, of the bed.
Installed and hooked up the fuel tank.
Mounted the hydraulic clutch and hooked it up bled it.
I'm going to wire this baby this week.

I mounted the electric fan between the grille and the radiator. I hooked it up on a thermostat control along with a relay.
The alternator is now all hooked up too.

Put a couple of my wheels on it so I could roll it out side for a look see.
You can see where I cut a hole in the bed for the fuel tank filler lid to be accessible.

The shifter parts came in this week so now I can put it in and also cut and install the drive shaft. We will take it out on a maiden voyage next week.

Oh yea, I also rebuilt the frontend under my 68 wagon.
Lowered it two inches in the front, one and a half inches in the back and put four new 245-60-15 tires on it.
Redone the engine and rebuilt the 350 turbo.

Truck is coming along OI.[cl
I always smile to my self when I see how coooool station wagons have become.:)
My favorite towing vehicle was my mom's new 1973 Plymouth Grand Fury wagon. Long wheel base and a V-8 made for a great towing rig.
Bought my first wagon in 1975. 57 Chevy that I drove for 3 years without touching it. $600.00
I have had several since then including a 56 Olds and a 62 Ford Country squire quasi woody. Back in the day wagons were only slightly more desirable than 4 doors. I guess I was just ahead of my time.:D
