Another coil over question

Has anybody ever tried the inexpensive coilover shocks designed for VW bugs and buggies..I see them all over ebay for about $75 a pair or $90 if you want chrome

Thought these might be an economical solution for the rear ladder bar setup on my project.. Any thoughts??

Those are only meant to assist the VW torsion bar and are not meant as a stand alone component. Still basically just a shock absorber. Suspension is one of those places where you just can't cheap out...
