Looks to me like it may be an electrical connection, or a switch of some kind?
Maybe for "brake light' for the E brake inside of the rear rotor, or maybe part of the anti-lock brake system?

Kind of hard to tell its relationship to the axle and the other things around it from that pic.

Ford used heavy duty muffler clamps to mount all sorts of brackets on the 8.8 rear. Shock mounts, sway bar mounts, coil spring pads... Without more to go on than the one picture, I'd be guessing.

I'll send some better pics later if I can get at it....I have my bed on. My son uses a lot of 8.8's in his builds... he says he cuts them off.....but he's a rebel. LOL

I'm messing with brake hoses to the caliper. I ordered some new Mustang caliper hoses cause the rear came out of a Mustang GT. Come to find that the Mustang hoses mount to the body or frame of the car. My kicked up rear frame is too far away for that and plan on mounting to the rear tubes. I'll have to return those and get a pair of universal ss braided jobbers with a mounting tab.

Also screwed up with ordering the new parking brake cables....the stocks are 2 different sizes and I need 2 of the same size so they both end up at the same location near the middle of the frame....well slightly to the side. Sent that back and ordered another of the same longer one.

I dropped the bed back on so I can make sure I don't have any interference with the bed sides, cables & hoses. Looks nice to see the bed on.

A few progress pics. Took Genes advice and did the front brake line over....much better.
A shot of the brake lines at the booster, the fuel lines, and the bed on.
I have to pop a hole thru the inner frame where the fuel lines are laying and weld in a tube to run the fuel lines thru.
Brake lines from the calipers to the frame drop line / tee, Fuel line thru the frame and Parking brake cable routing.....lil underside welding, hair pin bushing welding and I'll be ready to paint the frame. Tanks for listening!
