Yep Cycledog, that will be my next project after the 27 is done. I wasn't even looking for a new project but we spotted this one at Turkey Run in Daytona last November and my Sons were all over and under it, telling me I had to buy it. It came from South Dakota and was in a warehouse since about 1964. Some guy bought it for parts for his 46 convertible and had the body and frame left over. It only has surface rust, and no holes except for the trunk floor.
Coincidentally, about two years ago Paul (Ratty46) in Atlanta sold me all of his leftovers from his 46 project, so I have the complete drivetrain, front and rear end setups, and some wheels. It was sort of fate that I got this body to go with it.
My plan is to leave the body exactly as it is, bumps, bruises and patina. However, I have a 355 Chevy engine that came out of a Camaro drag car, and I am going to freshen that up and install it with a/c and some modern conveniences so I can use this one as my daily driver. I ospho'd the entire body and the rust has now turned black, so that should slow down any further rusting. I'll clean up the interior, drop it a little, and put some nice wheels and white walls on it. The look I am shooting for is that of just an old Ford sedan, but when you pop the hood it will be detailed, chromed, and tricked out a little. Probably will use an adapter to mate the Ford transmission with the sbc.
Thanks for asking about it. Here are some pictures of it when I got it and got it home.
