Canadian Rust Bucket
We have just had some of the worst weather in recent memory. Late Monday my the immediate area has be deemed in a 'State of Emergency'. Due to the drifting and blowing snow. Snow streamers off the southern tip of Lake Huron buried London ON a week ago, and have now shifted due south for the last three days which covers my area. Approx 360 vehicles are stuck and stranded on the 402 highway. The Canadian military has been called in to airlift the stranded people. Two CH-146 Griffon helicopters and a CC-130 Herc. are on the scene. The Herc and crew are spotting for the helicopters and telling them when a break on the snow streamers is about to happen, so they can dash in, grab the people and get back on top before they are in a white out. Local towns and villages (our's included) in the area have set up "warming stations" for people who have managed to get off the highways and roads but have no where else to stay. I didn't get away scott free this time. I was in it a few miles south of the 402 scene and got creamed by a tilt and load that was working a 4 car pile up on a county road. I couldn't get through to where I was headed, so I said the heck with it. I managed to get turned around but in a matter of moments was in a white out myself. Caught a glimpse of a mail box, so I parked close as possible so I would be off the traveled portion of the road. Waited for about a minute for it to clear a bit, glanced in the rearview mirror to see two headlights bearing down. Got nailed in the drivers rear corner and raked all down the driverside by a tilt and load. Well...my Cad was a nice car, I doubt it will be fixed due to the age and the amount of damage. Good news, nobody was hurt, just really PO'd. The truck was only two days old, the driver was good about it all, and made sure I was ok. I took some pictures today, but so much snow blew in since last night it's hard to see anything. Oh well, life goes on. Summers looking pretty good right now!
