Can you believe someone paid $4.2 Million for the Bat Mobile?
I watched it go and just couldn't get over the crowd around it and the way the bidding went. It looked like Chit from the belt line down, like it was covered with bondo and undercoating.
A fool and his money.......

"Holy good investment" Batman! George bought the Lincoln concept car in 1965 for $1 ........ did a $15,000 customizing job on it, held onto it for 48 years and sold it for $4,200,000  You know what they say......"Buy low, sell high" ;)

I guess it's all relative, I'm sure for Mr. Champagne it was like one of us splurging for a new crate motor. :)

Yeah, it's all over the net, with people amazed at the price and the fact a guy would spend that kind of money. But the fact is, some people simply have that kind of money and to them it is no different than us regular folks spending $2,000 for a car project we want to own. He wanted it, he obviously has so much money that $4.2 Million to him is just chump change, so I say God bless him. I don't hate him at all for being more successful than me.

I know it's hard for us regular paycheck to paycheck guys to imagine, but some more fortunates can spend $5 Million on a painting for their home or $4.2 million on a car that they really want bad. It is a world of private jets and vacation homes on the French Riviera that most of us will never see and can't comprehend.

Bet he was just as excited going to bed last night as we are when we drag home some rusty piece of crap we really wanted too.:D

Starting out as the Lincoln Futura concept (1960, I believe) and later converted for T.V. by "The King of Excess" like it or not, it's a VERY significant piece of custom car kulture or history. :)

Don's right, that lifestyle is something most of us average joes can't comprehend...;)

Regards,
Shea :)

Actually it sold for almost $4.7 million buy the time the guy pays all the fees.

I read that the guy that bought it plans to put it in his living room....... I like the words best from the people at Road & Track.

"If you can afford to buy the car for $4.2 Million you don't put it in your living room, you build it it's own cave!"

I gotta wonder how many kids had to go to bed hungry so that guy could make the kind of money he does to afford 4.2 mil for a decrepit hunk of tin........

Free Market!

The FREE market is what enabled this man to afford the Batmobile and us to build and buy rods as we choose. [unlike socialist countries that SHARE the wealth.]
