Hey guys how's it going? Haven't really gotten much else done this past week, got out there today for an hour or so before I had to tap. Tried multiple times bending up this patch panel.. Either I wouldn't get the bend right or I'd get the bends right but it wasn't long enough so I said screw it I'm tired of wasting metal I'll just have to patch it in 2 pieces.

Well didn't get much done today had a bunch of running to do that kept me out most of the day. But I did manage to get some more work done on the floor. Still have some grinding and a bit more welding to do but it's coming along.

I'm back at it today, got a bit done before the wife called me inside to give her a hand..Figured I'd take a few and post a couple pics before I head back out.. got the previous owner's "patch" removed. I don't know what brand of rivets he used but they were terrible. Barely had to touch them with the drill and the heads were popping off.
The plate underneath the floor pan that is rusted out is part of the front body mount and it looks like it used to connect to the rocker channel there. I'm thinking I'm gonna attempt to repair that plate and kinda box it into the rocker as I'm concerned it's a structural area. Why GM thought x frames were a good idea, give me a perimeter frame any day over this lol.

You are getting there.[;) [;)
Not to add to your work load.... You might want to check inside the lower door hinge pocket as well.
Bad spot on these early 60's GM X frames. I had to repair the DS one on my daughters 60 chevy.. I took off the door and cut a access hole into the side of the lower cowl to get at it to make the repair.

Appreciate the heads up ill have to take a closer look at that tomorrow. I sure hope I don't have to remove the door lol. Would you notice the doors sagging at all? Because my doors are perfectly aligned, they close smooth as butter absolutely no effort. Glad to know someone here knows x frames I may need to pick your brain at some point

Some where in the Torchie archives I might. Ill have to look.
The doors on the 60 Chevy didn't sag either but I was going to do some adjustment as the DS door gaps were bad when I found it. You will need a good strong light and have to get down on the ground to really see into that lower pocket.
As I recall I pulled off the door to get to the lower portion of the side of the cowl. I measured in to the pocket and then transferd that measurement to the out side cowl. I then cut out a square piece of the cowl out allowing me to see where the hinge actually bolted to the inner pocket structure.
Of course this is all based on your Buick door hinge being like the Chevy door hinge.
As far as the X frame goes. Ask any questions you have . Lots of members with good advice on this site.
