Some where in the Torchie archives I might. Ill have to look.
The doors on the 60 Chevy didn't sag either but I was going to do some adjustment as the DS door gaps were bad when I found it. You will need a good strong light and have to get down on the ground to really see into that lower pocket.
As I recall I pulled off the door to get to the lower portion of the side of the cowl. I measured in to the pocket and then transferd that measurement to the out side cowl. I then cut out a square piece of the cowl out allowing me to see where the hinge actually bolted to the inner pocket structure.
Of course this is all based on your Buick door hinge being like the Chevy door hinge.
As far as the X frame goes. Ask any questions you have . Lots of members with good advice on this site.

Yeah my luck it's probably the same as the Chevy lol my car is quite rusty in that general area unfortunately.

I appreciate all the help. I'll have to charge my strong light up and take a closer look tomorrow.

Hey guys not much progress lately been feeling a little under the weather past couple weeks. I did manage to pick up a new carburetor for my 5.3, it's a 770 cfm vacuum secondary brawler carb. I'm thinking it's probably gonna be a touch big for my motor but I can flip it and make a little something off it if that's the case. I picked it up for 180 it's like brand new, only has 2 street miles and 25 or so minutes idle time according to the gentleman I got it from. It came on a 383 crate engine he bought, he had changed out the cam and didn't make enough vacuum to open the secondarys so he went with a Fitech system and dumped this for pennies on the dollar lol

That's why you can change the secondary spring. [S

Baffling, but good deal for you!

Agreed. He definitely tried though he switched the adjustable secondary spring housing for the quick change one with all the springs he has the lightest spring installed currently. He seems to have money to play with I don't think he tried all that hard before giving up and going fuel injection but he did try.
This is the one he removed

If he had the lightest spring in there, I wonder if he went too light and it was bogging. Sounds like he wanted an excuse to go FI.

Either way, your gain. I haven't played with the Brawlers yet but I'm a fan of the Holley style carbs. Glad you got a good deal. In the modern-age thinking, a 770 is really way more than you need for a 5.3 for street driving, but it should work well. If anything, you'll lose a little throttle response down low but likely not overly noticeable.

Got to work on my transmission today. I've had this sucker sitting on my bench since last fall waiting to get new clutches a monster sunshell and a transgo shift I figured it was about time I got to work on it. After a bath in nasty ATF and a 20 minute break to clean everything up I had the pan off and ready to get to work, I really thought I had drained this damn thing. It's been years since I had been this deep in an auto transmission. It seemed overwhelming at first but just like riding a bike it came back to me. Overall it doesn't look terrible inside other than some clutch material in the pan and the accumulator spring being snapped in half. Now just waiting for parts to arrive.

That's my thoughts exactly.

Well the input drum is broken.. I can get a OEM remanufactured unit for 65 bucks but I'm concerned that it would just do the same thing as It seems to be a bit of a common issue. I would really like the sonnax smart input drum that does away with the snap ring and utilizes a bolt in retainer ring but that bad boy is almost 600 bucks and I'm just not sure if I can pony up that kinda cash right now.

Had to get creative to get the servo cover off, I knew she was a little stuck as I had tried removing it while it was still in my truck some years ago to put a vett servo in and no dice. I also messed with it a little back in the fall when I threw the transmission on my bench but quickly got fed up and chalked it up to future BudBeard's problem, I always seem to screw that guy over somehow 🤣..
Anyway while "lightly" tapping on the servo cover it broke, which gave me the idea to remove more of the cover enough to fit a 3 jaw puller in there. It took some patience and persistence but she finally gave up thankfully without damaging the case.

Got back to work on the floors some more today. I didn't get a whole lot done, I was moving at a snail's pace because my back was really getting to me but I kept at it a good portion of the afternoon. I'm just about done with the passenger side. I will be so happy when it's over this is so tedious.
Also set the new carburetor on the engine just for ****s and giggles

Only got about 30 minutes free to work. Slowly but surely finishing up the passenger side.
