I spent $160 and waited over 8 months to get this

turned into this

And tracking shows it was delivered July 16 but I never got it. I wonder how many motorcycles there even was in Montana in 1922. This may be the only one to still exist. I sure hope the post office screwed up and it's still down there.

The panic is over. Apparently the mail lady couldn't fit it in the mailbox and had sat it inside my cluttered garage.
This is probably my most valuable plate, right up there with my 1906 SD leather one anyway.

We must have the same mailman. I keep getting other people's mail and I bet they are getting mine.

Cool looking plate. Can you run it or is it just for display ?

Don

Not sure on Montana's YOM regs. In SD you can only use a car plate, they have no provision for truck, motorcycle ect. I think it's changing though.
So yeah, just a display. I have a dealer who wants it real bad but he's going to have to pony up with some good trades.

What is the process of restoration they use ? Do they weld new metal into those rusted out areas or what ? Came back looking better than new for sure.

Don

I'm not sure Don. I would think he must use a tig, maybe cut sections from other old plates?? It is kinda heavy, like porcelain so I expect he used some filler. This plate is prefect, front and back. I have seen restored plates from some places that the back looks pretty rough. I made sure they did both sides.
