when i was hacking away to get my 41 chevy truck cab off of the frame i cut threw the temp sending unit line in the engine bay.

is it posibable to repair this copper type line?

Dont think so. The line, and sending unit all work together as a unit. If it comes off the gauge, you might be able to replace just the line and sending unit without having to replace the gauge too tho I think. But the cut line, that part is done..

mechanical temp gauge repair

Yes it can be done, but it requires some expertise. I found a website that had step by step pics and instructions a couple of years ago. If I remember correctly it requires a sacrificial gauge to supply a new tube and the liquid it contains. The guy in the pictures had the bulb end in a very cold liquid to keep the fluid in the tube from escaping while the was soldered to the gauge.

That is a cool link. I had no idea it could be repaired like that.. That is good to know..
